Black History Season is an important time in the UK to recognise and value the inspirational individuals and events that have shaped the black generation both in the United Kingdom and around the world. During Black History Season, we remember and celebrate the important people from the past and also those who contribute to and help our society today.

This year at Kentish Town Primary School, we marked Black History Season by recognising and valuing the inspirational Black Artists who have shaped and inspired people from all walks of life around the world.

Each class was assigned a black artist, to research and then create their own versions of their work using whichever form of media they want.

The Artists were:

Sir Frank Bowling Nursery and Reception
Alma Thomas Year 1 and Year 2
Yinka Shonibare Year 3
Faith Ringgold Year 4
Lubaina Himid Year 5
Jean –Michel Basquiat Year 6

We showed all of the beautiful artwork in an exhibition in our Hall. We hope you enjoy the amazing artwork that the children of Kentish Town created.
